James Kalm is often asked what the meaning of formalistic abstract painting is(?) A profound part of this inquirery is color theory painting. Within this realm of investigation, Gabriele Evertz has achieved a level of recognition and achievement that bears testimony to her dedication, and consistency. With “EXALTATION”, Evertz presents a suite of variations of her vertical stripe paintings, with intriguing tweaks and changes in materials that evoke intense perception. In this program, the artist discusses her inspirations, theories, intentions, and history. Additionally, viewers are offered excerpts of a critical discussion hosted by David Cohen and ARTCRITICAL, at the Brooklyn Public Library and his team of young critics, Ariella Budick, Noah Dillon and Laila Pedro, that took place February 11, 2020.
